According to the weather forecast for the Alps the weather has been sunny for most of the recent week, although light snow has fallen on the higher slopes and there is a possibility of significant snowfall this weekend. Snow conditions are still good high up in the Alps and most of the larger resorts still have 80-90% of their slopes open, which is certainly good news for freeride skiers! The snowfall has not reached the southernmost reaches of the Pyrenees at the moment, where the central areas are battling sunny weather to keep the slopes open.

The warm weather in Scotland has so spoiled most of the skiing there. Glenshee and Cairngorm have very limited open ski terrain and The Lecht unless the weather returns to cold. Development has to be stopped. Temperatures in the Scandinavian North Sea have remained low, and with the recent increase in snowfall in central areas such as Helmsedal in Norway, this is a more promising picture for skiers. In the USA, resorts such as Mammoth Mountain and Park City continue to extend their ski seasons thanks to record snowfall. This is undoubtedly a happy time for freeride skiers.
